    Ridder 1284, heer van Veere en Sandenburg 1298, regent van Holland en Zeeland, vermeld 1271/99, stichter van de stad Rotterdam. Tr. (2) 1297 Katharina van Durbuy, weduwe van Aelbrecht van Voorne. Wolphard had na de moord op Floris V gedurende enige jaren de macht in Holland praktisch in handen. Hij was regent van Holland en Zeeland voor de jonge Graaf Jan I. In 1299 werd Wolphard op beestachtige wijze te Delft vermoord, toen hij geprobeerd had graaf Jan I naar Zeeland te ontvoeren. Dit is beschreven in de rijmkroniek, die Melis Stoke over deze periode geschreven heeft.
