In de jaren 30 had opoe een koffiehuis aan de wittekade in amsterdam.
Mijn moeder (alida christina) vertelde hoe de kinderen vanuit hun bed op de vliering, toekeken hoe er eten in een teil werd gekookt voor de werklui.
Opoe heeft jaren op een hofje in de karthuizerstraat in de jordaan gewoont.
De crisis jaren was ze nog niet vergeten, want ze at nog regelmatig een broodje schuifkaas.
( beleg een boterham en draai die om zodat het beleg er af valt).
Mijn ouders moesten altijd de ijskast nakijken, want opoe zag de schimmel niet meer en belgde nog steeds haar boterham er mee.
Op de dag van haar begrafenis, zou een kennis de lijkwagen rijden. Iedereen was ingestapt in de volgauto's toen de lekke band van de lijkwagen werd gezien. Iedereen gilde het uit van het lachen, want opoe had weer een geintje uitgehaald.
Het zal een vreemd gezicht zijn geweest toen de volgauto's zonder lijkwagen richting kerkhof gingen, en later een lijkwagen met 1 volgauto, met 70 of 80 door amsterdam raasde.
