Op 29-10-1890 (ca. 5 maanden na de huwelijksvoltrekking) werd Baukje opgenomen en verpleegd op de kraamafdeling van het Binnengasthuis te Amsterdam. Het opnameregister van het ziekenhuis vermeldt: ' Verlost (bevallen) ingebracht, zonder kind '. Op08-11-1890 wordt Baukje uit het ziekenhuis ontslagen. Vooralsnog is het onbekend hoe het de geborene is vergaan. Hoogst waarschijnlijk is het kind levenloos geboren.

De echtscheiding van Hendrik Smit werd bij vonnis van 21-01-1897 uitgesproken en geregistreerd bij de Burgerlijke Stand te Enkhuizen op 28-06-1897. Na de scheiding leidt Baukje een 'zwervend' bestaan, van doorgangshuis in Watergraafsmeer naar Wormerveer, Edam, Alkmaar, Amsterdam, Sloten, Bloemendaal.

Komende uit Wormerveer staat Baukje op 19-06-1923 ingeschreven als 'huishoudster' in het dienstbodenregister van Edam. Op 01-10-1923 vertrekt Baukje naar Alkmaar.
