Leerbroek
Het dorp ligt aan de weg van Meerkerk naar Leerdam. Leerbroek is in 1025 gesticht door Jan van Arkel en genoemd naar de oude waterloop de Leede. Het was een doorwaadbare plaats in dit riviertje. Broek duidt op broekland, wat een stuk laag veenland was. Vroeger heette het ook Lederbroek.
