Johann war nach Hemricourt der älteste Sohn Rassos II.; seine Besitzausstattung spricht allerdings gegen diese Annahme.(328) Er wurde durch seine Ehe mit der Tochter Theobalds von La Vaux aus der Linie von Warfusée Herr von La Vaux,(329) heute Lavaux-Sainte-Anne, südöstlich von Dinant. Urkundlich ist er nicht belegt; vielleicht ist er aber mit jenem Iannes de Scenoue bzw. Iohanni Xenahn, der 1334 und 1339/40 als deutscher Ritter in Lucca überliefert ist,330 zu identifizieren.
