    Le chevalier Libert de Houthem était le fils ainé de sire Iwain de Houthem et de Jeanne Muschercel de Wynansrode , morte le 12 novembre 1413 , dont la mère était une Brant , l'aïeule paternelle une Schoonvorst et l'aïeule maternelle une Dicst . Il eut un frère nommé Jean , dont les descendants possédèrent , pen dant plusieurs générations , le fief de Neer - Dormael . Il fut receveur du domaine de Tirlemont en 1443 1444 et échevin de cette ville en 1470.
