Pieter en Geertje zijn op dezelfde dag overleden. Dat viel Henny Boontjes op en zij ging op zoek naar de achtergrond hiervan. Zij stootte op een dramatisch verhaal en zelf vond ik dit berichtje daarna ook in de Alkmaarse Courant van 28 april 1882 op pagina 2. Het levenspaadje voor dit jonge huwelijk was totaal niet rooskleurig. Na het weekend op maandag 24 april werd Geertje levenloos gevonden "in eene sloot achter hunne woning". Haar man Pieter heeft zich daarna in huis in wanhoop van het leven benomen. Dit waren gissingen van de mensen destijds maar het gebeuren op zich gaat ook nu nog een beetje met je aan de haal.
