Toen de resident bij hem op bezoek kwam om hem aan te spreken over vermeend tegoed belastinggeld over de aangekochte Tegal Waru landerijen, werd hij zo boos dat hij het marmeren blad van de tafel in tweeën sloeg. De resident schrok toen zo erg, dat hij het in zijn broek deed en hem daar weer over aanklaagde wegens belediging. Dit stond als bericht in de krant: een Chinees had de resident beledigd.
