Notes about Jacobus Legierse

 

Op 31-05-1875 wordt Jacobus Legierse met zijn gezin (vrouw en 3 kinderen) ingeschreven in Antwerpen. Hun adres wordt St Amandusstraat 9 Sectie 5. Hun dochter Cornelia Catharina overlijdt in Antwerpen op 04-09-1875. Vrijwel direct gaat het gezin terug naar Oude Tonge waar hun dochtertje Baptista overlijdt op 04-11-1875. Van de 4 kinderen die zij hebben gekregen is alleen de eerste, Wilhelmina Cornelia, nog in leven. Zij is inmiddels 6 jaar oud. Er zijn in Oude Tonge nog 2 zoons geboren, Johannes Jacobus (mijn grootvader) in 1877 en Matthijs in 1978. Matthijs overlijdt op 16-01-1879. Uiteindelijk blijven er dus van de 6 kinderen maar 2 in leven, Wilhelmina Cornelia en mijn grootvader Johannes Jacobus. Vader Jacobus en moeder Johanna vertrekken kort hierna met de twee overgebleven kinderen naar Rotterdam. Op 15 november 1883 sterft vader Jacobus in Rotterdam, in de Catharinastraat, 50 jaar oud. Er zit voor Johanna niets anders op dan met haar 2 overgebleven kinderen terug te gaan naar Oude Tonge waar zij op 03-11-1902 overlijdt.
