Cor was in mei 1940 dienstplichtig militair. Na de capitulatie leerde Mia hem kennen in Sittard. Na hun trouwen gingen ze in Apeldoorn wonen. Daar werd hun eerste kind, John, geboren. In verband met de opstand in Indonesiërs moest hij opnieuw onder de wapens. Hij sneuvelde in Makassar.

Zijn tweede kind werd geboren enkele maanden na zijn dood.
