(......"Binnen het Turfdragersgilde bestonden vier functies: turfdragers, turfheffers, turfvulsters en turfraapsters. De raapsters werkten in het schip waarmee de turf was aangevoerd, zij vulden kleine manden die door de schippersknecht in tonnen werden overgestort. De knechten droegen ook de volle tonnen aan wal. Aan de wal zorgden de turfheffers ervoor dat de inhoud van de tonnen over manden werd verdeeld, welke door de turfvulsters werden geschud en op inhoud gecontroleerd.
