Wordt in 1731 lid van het Korendragersgilde. Is poorter van Amsterdam 23 mei 1769. Uit kwijtscheldingen en zijn testament blijkt dat Jan Jacobsz Ames(z) en Jan Jacobsz Boomkamp een en dezelfde persoon is. De naam Jan Jocaobsz Amos wordt gebruikt bij de doop van zijn 6 onwettige kinderen bij Anna Margaretha Steinbach. Na zijn huwelijk mate Anna Steinbach worden de kinderen gewettigd en vanaf dat moment Amesz. Op 15 maart 1783 gaat hij "in het bos" en gaat het lidmaatschap van het korendragersgilde inclusief de Lichter de Jonge Barend (schip) over naar zijn zoon Jacob Ametsz (136)
