In haar woonplaats Winsum is zaterdag 27-09-2014 op honderdjarige leeftijd de Groningse verzetvrouw Sietje Gravendaal - Tammens overleden.

Sietje Gravendaal - Tammens werd geboren in Kloosterburen en woonde en werkte aan het begin van de oorlog in de stad Groningen.
Ze werd tot de top van het verzet gerekend. De groep regelde onder meer de voedselbonnen en besloot wie er geliquideerd moest worden.
Dat gebeurde volgens haar op basis van het argument hoe gevaarlijk mensen waren voor de organisatie en de onderduikers die afhankelijk waren van de verzetsgroep.
Zo werden de NSB-politiechefs Anne Jannes Elsinga en Jannes Luitje Keijer door de groep vermoord.

Gravendaal-Tammens zei later geen spijt te hebben van de liquidaties.
Ze werd tegen het eind van de oorlog opgepakt in Amsterdam en zat tijdens de bevrijding in een strafkamp op Borkum.
Ze vertrok naar Curaçao en huwde daar Cees Gravendaal. Later keerde ze terug naar Groningen.

Sietje Gravendaal-Tammens heeft haar lichaam beschikbaar gesteld aan de wetenschap.
