Han skal ha sitti på Grini under krigen. En gang solgte han en "marmorfigur" til en kar som skulle pynte opp i hagen. Gleden over den nye statuen varte ikke lenge for når det begynte å regne smuldret den bort. Det var bare en gipsfigur.
