Bouwhuis, de auteur van �De Rust In Het Juteparadijs Verstoord�, een in 2000 gepubliceerd boek over de 21 weken durende staking bij de Koninklijke Jutespinnerij en weverij Ter Horst & Co. N.V. te Rijssen. Deze staking duurde van 3 december 1906 en heeft tot 28 april 1907. Op 17 augustus 1906 werd loonsverhoging ge�ist van maar liefst 20%. De firma weigerde aanvankelijk maar wilde in november gedeeltelijk aan de eisen voldoen. Men kwam echter niet tot overeenstemming. Op maandag 3 december was de staking een feit en op 6 december lag de productie volledig stil. Half februari werd de productie hervat, de arbeiders konden tegen hun oude loon het werk weer opnemen. De staking begon langzaam te verlopen en op 30 april 1907 war er een einde aan gekomen. De vakbonden verloren veel aanhang en een aantal leidende figuren bij de staking werd de toegang tot de fabriek ontzegd. In dat licht gezien was het niet verwonderlijk dat er een vrij grote afstand bestond tussen de firmanten en de hunnen enerzijds en het arbeidende volksdeel van Rijssen en anderzijds..
