Hij was lijkkistenmaker en woonde in een dubbelhuis dat bij de 10de wyk en de vaart stond waarin 3 gezinnen woonden. Het huis werd ook wel het “Armenhuis” genoemd.
Tjeerd van der Draai is via de Arbeitseinsatz op 10 april 1942 in Bremen aangekomen en door een trein terwijl hij op het spoor stond al op 27 april 1942 om het leven is gekomen.
Hij is begraven in Hoornsterzwaag.
Due to its records, T. van der Draai died on 27th of April 1942 but not from injuries caused by a bomb attack. A train hit him while he was standing on the tracks and brought him to death.
Possibly he was working as a construction worker in the railroad station.
T. van der Draai was among those foreign workers forced to Germany in the second half of the Second World War, since he had arrived in Bremen on 10th of April 1942.
