De Slag van Steps vond op 13 oktober 1213 bij Montenaken in de Belgische provincie Limburg plaats. De Stepsheuvel waar de slag plaats vond, gelegen tussen Montenaken, Walshoutem en Cras-Avernas verleende zijn naam aan de veldslag.
Aanleiding was de twist tussen het hertogdom Brabant en het prinsbisdom Luik over de zeggenschap over de erfopvolging van het graafschap Moha. Lodewijk en Hendrik waren beide verwanten van de laatste graaf van Moha, Albert III en Albert I zijn oom Balderic was tevens Prinsbischop van Luik.
