Arnold was de bouwer van burg Drachenfelds bij Koningswinter hij volgt 1137 zijn neef Hugo van Sponheim op als Bisschop van Koln die binnen een jaar als bisschop aan malaria overleed. Arnold wordt in 1151 opgevolgt door Arnold van Wied.
Opmerking; volgens historicie Walther Moller bestaat deze Arnold van Randerath niet deze de Bisschop van Koln was !?
Im Jahr 1070 lag der Zoll zu Esserden bei Rees in der Grafschaft des Gottschalk im Hettergau. Zwischen 1138 – 1146 bestatigt der EB von Köln, Arnold I. von Randerath (1137-51), dessen Vorfahren Vögte der Kirche in Rees waren, daß Godschalk, der Bruder des Grafen Gerhard von Loo(z/n), mit der Stiftskirche ein Gut zu Menzeln tauschte. Arnold bestatigt seine Verwandtschaft mit Walter von Hengenbach.
