Willem vertrok 16-11-1909 naar Kettwig (Duitsland), later naar Mülheim. Daar werkte hij in de mijnen. Wilhelmina werkte op een sigarenfabriek. Willem was Nederlands Hervormd, Willemina was Rooms Katholiek. Bij huwelijk moest Willem beloven de kinderen katholiek op te voeden, maar na enige akkefietjes besloot hij terug te gaan naar de Ned. Hervormde Kerk. In Duitsland hadden zij mensen in de kost.
Vrouwlief vertrok in W.O. 1 met dochter Antonie Wilhelmina naar Nederland, naar haar nicht Helena van Dommelen - Enkelschot. Daar liet zij deze dochter katholiek dopen. De andere dochters zijn later ook katholiek gedoopt.
Later volgde ook rest van gezin. Hadden café in Maarssen. Willem kon er niet tegen en ging klein jaar werken in de mijnen in Limburg. Teruggekomen verkochten ze het café en kochten twee huizen op de Achterweg te Maarssen, waarvan ze er één verhuurden.
Op 26-4-1922 woonde zij te Maarssen op Emmaweg 28, op 4-10-1933 nog steeds.
Willemina woonde op 17-5-1951 Emmaweg 23b te Maarssen. Op 28-11-1962 verhuisde zij naar Friezenstraat 37 te Maarssen, op 31-12-1964 naar Parkweg 49 te Maarssen.

They got married on April 28, 1906 at Kettwig (D), he was 29 years old.
