သVolgens het trouwregister van het Gerecht Workum trouwt daar op 28 juni 1650 Haring Gerbrants Jarsma met Boeka van Rodenrijs. Haring, zoon van Gerben Harmens en Jeltie Harings, is edelsmid in Workum. De naam Ja(a)rsma komt daarna echter niet meer voor tot 1812. Op 2 januari 1812 neemt te Workum de weduwe van Jouke Wiebes (overleden in 1801), Wikkjen Sybolts, ook de familienaam Jaarsma aan voor haarzelf en haar kinderen Wiebe 30, Jeltje 28, Sybolt 26, Trijntje 24, Wypkjen 23, Klaaske 21 alsmede de kleinkinderen Jouke 9, Trijntje 6, Wikkjen 1. Opvallend is dat al spoedig de r uit de familienaam verdwijnt en zo de familie Jaasma is ontstaan. Eén van Wikkjes nakomelingen: Sytje Fetzes Jaasma is getrouwd met Douwe van der Heij, de grootvader van mijn vrouw van vaders zijde! De hiernaast opgenomen Jaasma genealogie en de parenteel van Jaarsma Koudum hebben daardoor een relatie met de ook in deze website opgenomen familie van der Heij. Hier kunt u zien hoe de 224 personen die de naam Jaasma in 2007 dragen over Nederland verspreid zijn. သ
