    Blijham kreeg op 15-2-1868 een hulpkantoor onder Winschoten. Er was al sedert 1852 een bestelhuis. Blijham lag op de route van de bodediensten Winschoten-Onstwedde en Vriesscheloo-Winschoten.

    Het postkantoor van weleer in de Molenhorn, gebouwd in 1905 door Siebolt Dethmers. Op de foto uit 1906 staan v.l.n.r. S. Dethmers met echtgenote en hun dochtertje Aaltje, dienstbode A. Kruizinga en de postbode Roelf Houwing. Nu Hoofdweg 56 op de hoek met de Veurste Rou.

    Op 1-8-1946 nam postkantoorhouder Joh. de Jonge afscheid en werd zijn zoon Jan de Jonge de nieuwe kantoorhouder. Het postkantoor met telefooncentrale was toen in het woonhuis van De Jonge aan de Hoofdstraat gevestigd.

    Jannie de Jonge en Geertje Jansen waren de telefonistes van de telefooncentrale in Blijham (40 aansluitingen). H. Holvast en R. Houwing waren de postbodes in vaste dienst. R. Houwing was tevens de vervanger van de kantoorhouder. B.J. Dekker en H. van der Kamp waren hulpbesteller.
