Reinier was beroepsmilitair,wachtmeester intructeur bereden artillerie. Na de capitulatie werd hij aangesteld als douanebeambte te Wernhout aan de Belgische grens. Hierdoor werd hij benaderd door een Zundertse inwoner voor hulp bij het overbrengen van Joden naar België, ook werden er microfilms voor de Inlichtingen dienst van Kolonel Somers over de grens bezorgd. Later raakte hij ook steeds meer betrokken bij een vluchtlijn voor Amerikaanse en Engelse piloten.


Door verraad van die Zundertse man die, naar later bleek, chantage met bedrog op Joden had, werd Reinier op 29 april 1943 gearresteerd en naar Huis van Bewaring te Breda overgebracht en vandaar op 18 mei 1943 naar Vught (gevangenisnummer 4117, blok 18 B). Via kamp Vught op 6 september 1944 (Dolle Dinsdag) naar Oranienburg/Sachsenhausen getransporteerd. Eind 1944 te werk gesteld in de Heinkelfabrieken. In februari 1945 werkzaam bij de Arado Werke(Vliegtuigfabriek), Rathenow blok 6. Stube 3. Zou daarna op 5 februari 1945 op ziekentransport zijn gegaan, naar concentratiekamp Bergen Belsen(B.D.R) en was sindsdien vermist.


Na 5 jaar, via het Rode Kruis, bericht van overlijden op 31 mei 1945 in kamp Bergen Belsen hebben ontvangen.


Posthuum is hij onderscheiden voor:


Her verzetsherdenkingskruis, aan zijn vrouw overhandigd, voor de hulp aan de piloten met het Eisenhouwer certificaat en het Great Brittain Teddercertificaat.


De Yad Vasem medaille werd op 25 januari 2000 aan zijn dochter Marjolijn uitgereikt. Dit is de hoogste onderscheiding die het Joodse volk kent. Deze onderscheiding werd uitgereikt aan niet-joden die in de periode 1939-1945 uit humanitaire overwegingen belangeloos en dikwijls met gevaar voor eigen leven,joden hebben gered.
