Albertus is geen aanhanger van de Prins van Oranje. In tegedeel hij heeft zich verbonden aan het in die tijd aan de macht komende Franse Regime. In de nacht van 24 op 25 februari 1793 komt dit in de Heerlijkheid Prinsenland en het Dorp Dinterloord tot een treffen. Deze machtsstrijd is een begin van het opkomen van het Franse Regime. Dit is beschreven in:
