Notes about Aldert van der ZWAARD,

Uit Aalsmeers Stambomen (deel V);
Aldert van der Zwaard had al op jonge leeftijd een flinke boerderij aan het eind van de Grote Poellaan. Als naam koos hij "De Stuifhoek", in een schraal voorjaar bij aanhoudende droogte, wilden de bouwgronden in de Haarlemmermeer nogal eens verstuiven. De kwekerij deed het goed, zodat er na e oorlog al 1 ha onder glas lag. Aldert (Ap) van der Zwaard was niet alleen een goed bloemist, maar zette zich ook in op maatscappelijk en politiek terrein.
Het is ondoenlijk om alle bestuurlijke functies te noemen, waarin hij actief was, slecht de belangrijkste willen wij hier noemen.
Van 1935 tot 1939 commissaris van de Centrale Aalsmeerse Veiling (C.A.V.), van 1941 tot 1963 bestuurslids, waarvan veertien jaar penningmeester en vice voorzitter. Bestuurslid RABO-bank van 1954 tot 1969, waarvan veertien jaar voorzitter. In 1954 werd hij gemeenteraadslid voor de P.v.d.A. in de Haarlemmermeer en in 1957 wethouder van financiën, onderwijs en sport en later loco-burgemeester. In 1969 kwam hij bij een auto-ongeluk om het leven.
Onder zijn bekwame leiding is er op het gebied van scholenbouw en sportaccomodaties veel tot stand gekomen. Er zijn in de gemeente Haarlemmermeer een zwembad en een school naar hem vernoemd.
