Mrs. Barbara J. Lankhaar, age 75, died at her Lynden area home on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003.
A daughter of Percy and Dorothy "Dolly" (Handy) Hanowell, Barbara was born in the Nooksack area on June 23, 1928 and was a lifetime county resident. She was married to Dennis Lankhaar in Lynden on Jan. 12, 1944.
A homemaker, Mrs. Lankhaar attended Grace Baptist Fellowship in Lynden and loved being with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed many fishing and hunting trips with her family and husband along with playing cards and word-find puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her husband in March 2002. She is survived by her children Sylvia and husband Dan Ross of Kingston, Danny Lankhaar of Marysville, Judy and husband Ron Vogge of Lynden, Percy Lankhaar and wife Kristi of Bellingham, Gary Lankhaar and wife Julie, Debbie and husband Raymond Weston, and June and husband Mike Harrington, all of Lynden; 20 grand- and 17 great-grandchildren; sisters Bonita Jansen of Lynden and Sandra Drake of Bellingham; brothers Jim Hanowell of Everson and Percy Hanowell of Lynden; and other relatives.
Memorial funeral services were conducted on Friday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Gillies Funeral Home with Rev. Delaine Bailey officiating. Private inurnment preceded in Monumenta Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Whatcom Hospice Foundation, 800 East Chestnut St., Bellingham, WA 98225.
