Heeft tijdens de oorlogsjaren(1940-1945) in het ondergronds verzet gezeten in Vlaardingen; heeft veel mensen aan eten geholpen. In 1951 overkomt hem een ernstig bedrijfsongeval,raakt in coma en is eigenlijk opgegeven. Hersteld echter weer maar blijft grotendeels invalide. Ging toen kerkewerkdoen en kon prachtige gedichten maken. Later nog vaak in ziekenhuizen gelegen voor nabehandelingen; later overleden aan een hoofd- tumor.
