Relatie met de familie Hobers
Als vader Roelof Frielink overlijdt, hertrouwt moeder Elsje Koerts met weduwnaar Jan van Almelo. Jan is de stamvader van de Nieuw-Amsterdamse tak van de familie Hobers. Jan van Almelo's eerste vrouw Jannigjen Hobers is de stammoeder van deze tak. Janne groeit dus op met de kinderen (halfbroertjes en zusje) van Jan van Almelo en Jannigjen Hobers.

In 1739 trouwt haar (half)broer Koert van Almelo. De kinderen uit het huwelijk van moeder Elsje en vader Roelof worden uitgesloten uit de huwelijkse voorwaarden: "sullende de voorkinders van de bruidegoms moeder van desen boedel niets kunnen komen te trekken". Janne Frieling ontving reeds het erfdeel uit de nalatenschap van zijn overleden vader Roelof Frieling. Ook blijkt hieruit dat Roelof Frielink en Elsje Koerts meer kinderen hadden dan alleen Janne.
