Hiske Geerts trouwt in op het huis dat van ouds bij de erve Mennersingh in Onstwedde (huisnummer 21) behoort. Hiske Geerts gaat dan ook de naam Mennersingh voeren. Op 9.1.1775 verkoopt Hiske Geerts Mennersingh zijn behuizing en tuin. Hierbij is geconditioneerd dat de verkoper tot mei 1777 het verkochte zal mogen blijven bewonen en gebruiken zonder huur te betalen. Daarna mag hij nog 4 jaar de kamer voor zijn gebruik bewonen, doch zonder gebruik van de tuin. Voor dat deze periode verstreken is, is Hiske Geerts reeds overleden. Financiëel gaat het Hiske Hindriks en Woltje Reints Mennersingh niet voor de wind. Regelmatig verkopen zij stukken tuingrond en ook lenen zij regelmatig geld van de diaconie van Onstwedde.
