Maricus hielp zijn vader in het boerenbedrijf maar
nauwelijks, en was meestal met slechte kameraden
op stap. De P verdacht hem al jaren Jang van
ernstige vermogenscriminaliteit, hield hem na
inbraken en overvallen ook dikwijls genoeg aan,
maar had nimmer genoeg bewijs tegen hem.
Men dacht niet alleen, dat hij een dief was, maar
vreesde hem als gevaarlijk.
Toen hij trouwde met de oudste zuster der Van
Nispens (Van Galen) werd het wat beter.
