    Hij was vanaf 26 februari 1935 winkelbediende en woonde toen aan de Paul Krügerlaan 153. In 1936 was hij nog ongetrouwd en woonde aan de Regentesselaan 268 in Den Haag. In augustus 1936 kreeg hij daar bezoek van zijn ouders. Dat blijkt uit een foto, die bewaard is gebleven. Vanaf 2 maart 1939 was Klaas de Jong boekhandelaar en woonde aan de Paul Krügerlaan 166 in Den Haag. Hij is op 30 juni 1937 getrouwd met Gé Glazenborg, die verpleegster in het Bronovo ziekenhuis in Den Haag was. In het telefoonboek van 1950 staat Klaas Oltho de Jong vermeld als "K.O.de Jong, boekh. P. Krügerlaan 175, tel. 392179". In 1940 was op dat adres boekhandel Hoekstra gevestigd.
