    Hij was een bekend beeldhouwer uit Bruchsal. In 1792 heeft hij het kruis-altaar van de Michaëlskapel in Bruchsal gemaakt. Deze kerk bevindt zich op de Michaëlsberg, die 272 meter hoog is. Het kruis-altaar in de kerk is het hoog-altaar van de Michaëlskapel. Eerst heeft dit hoog-altaar in de Pauluskerk (Paulskirche) te Bruchsal gestaan, maar later werd het geschonken aan de Michaëlskapel. Het altaar werd oorspronkelijk zonder de twee Mariafiguren vervaardigd, maar ook deze beelden komen uit de handen van Tobias Günther. Hij leerde het kunsthandwerk van zijn vader, de bekende hofbeeldhouwer Joachim Günther. Opvallend is, dat Tobias Günther en Maria Magdalena Wilhelm zijn getrouwd in de Sint Peter kerk in Bruchsal, waar ook hun eerste kind wordt gedoopt. Hun tweede en derde kind wordt echter gedoopt in de Sint Paulus kerk. Het is bekend, dat de vader Tobias Günther in 1792 een beeld van de apostel Paulus heeft gemaakt voor de Sint Paulus kerk. Waarschijnlijk is hij in dus dat jaar overgegaan naar die kerk.

    Die Söhne Tobias Günther (1755–1811) und Johann Adam Günther (1760-nach 1832) traten in die künstlerischen Fußstapfen des Vaters.

Bij zijn tweede huwelijk wordt Tobias "Tobiam Guenther" genoemd. Zijn tweede vrouw wordt "Magdalenam Wilhelm" genoemd. Opvallend is, dat ze zijn getrouwd in de Sint Peter kerk in Bruchsal, waar ook hun eerste kind wordt gedoopt. Hun tweede en derde kind wordt echter gedoopt in de Sint Paulus kerk.
