    Hij was landbouwer op de boerderij "Boekstede" te Westerzand, Sebaldeburen vanaf 1764. Het echtpaar Eeuwes-Geerts kocht in 1764 het recht van beklemming van Buikstede op het Westerzand. Het originele koopcontract van 9 juli 1764 is bewaard gebleven. Ze kochten het "Boeksteeder Schatthuis, geleegen op het Zandt onder Sijbaldebuiren", voor 400 Carolus guldens, te voldoen in 3 termijnen (200, 100 en 100 gulden).

    Yntje Ewes verkocht op 24 november 1768 12 grazen aan de oostkant van de Grootegastmer tocht en als noordgrens de Zandemerweg. In het archief van de familie Menkema/Dijksterhuis (nr. 957) is ook nog sprake van een erfwissel tussen D' Hertoghe en Yntje Ewes.
