Hij is hoedenmakersknecht te Groningen, waar hij volgens eigen zeggen woont aan het "Lutkenijstraatje". Waarschijnlijk was hij als knecht in dienst van de hoedenmaker Evert Arnoldus. Op 5 mei 1812 wordt hij als getuige opgeroepen door de Arrondissementsrechtbank te Groningen. Hij vertelt, dat hij Franciscus Antoni Pera al jaren kent en daarom zeker weet dat hij ouder is dan 50 jaar. Verder verklaart hij, dat hij in militaire dienst is geweest met Frans Pera, de vader van Franciscus Antoni en regelmatig bij hem thuis op bezoek ging.
