    "Quant à Otto Eberhard, lieutenant-colonel dans sa Prusse natale, il épouse sa cousine Johanna Eva Streiff, née en 1617 et fille de Philippe Thiebold. Il meurt en Livonie, avant que ne lui échoie son héritage en Alsace Bossue, et c’est sa veuve, nommée «la colonelle»(die Obristin), qui entreprend en 1647 le long voyage pour venir s’établir au château de Diedendorf, dans le village détruit et vidé de ses habitants. Matthis (Bilder…p.244) mentionne cette arrivée de la châtelaine, sur la personne de laquelle il semble toutefois faire erreur. Il s’agit, en effet de Johanna Eva Streiff, et non Maria Magdalena von Endingen, sa belle-sœur, qui n’a qu’une fille et qui décède en 1665 à Riga. Dans le château, demeuré longtemps inhabité, c’est donc la «Colonelle» qui vient s’installer «avec ses 4-6 enfants, et son personnel comprenant un cocher, un berger, un vacher, un vigneron et un régisseur. En guise de précepteur pour ses enfants, elle engage Friederich Schuster, un compagnon-sellier de Bockenheim."
