    Johan Goll van Frankenstein sr. , eigenaar van de buitenplaats Velserbeek in Velsen. Goll van Franckenstein was een succesvolle Amsterdamse bankier. Van oorsprong was hij afkomstig uit Duitsland. Hij verkeerde in kringen van zeer gegoede kooplieden. Velen uit zijn vriendenkring waren belangrijke collectioneurs. Zelf was hij een verwoed verzamelaar van voornamelijk zeventiende-eeuwse tekeningen. Niet alleen was hij een verzamelaar, maar hij gaf ook opdrachten aan kunstenaars. Bovenal was hij zelf een getalenteerde tekenaar. In veel openbare collecties is werk van zijn hand te vinden.
