    At the age of 9, his father sent him to Amszach, to his sister-in-law, Lady Dorothea von HESSBERG, born ROTSCHÜTZ, whose husband Johann Sigmund von HESSBERG was "Geheimer Rath" of the Princes of Brandenburg, and he studied at the "Gymnasium". He was doing his "Classical" studies at Altorf University, then in Leyden in the Netherlands. Finally he travelled to Hessen, where his great uncle, general von TÜRCKHEIM was Governor. There on 6 january 1700 he prepared and defended his thesis under D. WITZCHEN: “Dissertatio de obligatione & potestate Regis Romanorum in genere”, and with the famous HERTIO: “Diplomatis Germaniae Imperatorum et Regum”. In 1701 he wrote “Juris Publici. Commentatio de Firmamentis conventionum publicarum”, dedicated to Marshal d'HUXELLES, governor of Alsace, and on 13 june 1701, after having written his : “Loco disputationes Inauguralis sine Preside defendirte” he became “Licentiatus Juris”. The next year his father gave him his Ribeauvillé possessions. In 1704, he was appointed "Geheimer Rath" of the "Pfalz" Church and "Kammer- und Regierungs Director von Rappoltzweiler" (Ribeauvillé). In 1722 he was appointed Ambassador of Duke Leopold Eberhard of WÜRTTEMBERG-MÖMPELGART (Montbéliard) to the Emperor, as well as representative of the French King. In 1723 he was called to the French "Court" by Regent Philippe d' ORLEANS, during the minority of Louis XV, to negotiate the inheritance of the Great Duke of Toscana, and their duchies of Parma and Piacenza. The Medicis were extinct, the inheritance was supposed to go to Infans Don Carlos of Spain. Friederich Ludwig II was successful. ... . He received a life grant of 2000 pounds ("Livres") (Brevet du 12 décembre 1723).
