Notes about Sijtze Jacobs Hemrica

Bron voor de geboorte van de kinderen: NHKR Garijp. Hij was schipper en winkelier. Er is sprake van een passage langs De Sont van ene Sijtse Hemrica op 22-8-1763, met als thuishaven Leeuwarden. Hij vertrok uit Amsterdam en had als lading: ballast. In de Leeuwarder Courant: vermeldingen over zijn schip De Eekmolen dat op 14-2-1759 verkocht werd. De advocaat is dr. Jacobus Tjallingh en het is een koffe-schip. Op 18-8-1754 vertrekt hij daarmee van Amsterdam naar de Oostzee met ballast en op 7-8- 1757 met zout. Daarna heeft hij de Jonge Catharina , een 3-mast Snauwschip. Op 8-4-1760 komt hij daarmee op Texel vanuit Bordeaux. Op 10-4-1761 ligt hij in Blaye met wijn en bestemming Amsterdam. Op 13-6-1761 gaat hij van Vlieland naar Petersburg en op 8-7-1761 passert hij de Sont. Op 9-5-1763 arriveert hij in Dantzig, met bestemming Amsterdam. Op 5-11-1763 passeert hij de Sont en op 12-3-1764 arriveert hij in Rochefort. Op 13-7-1764 ligt hij in Napels met zijn vracht en is er geen nieuwe vracht mogelijk. Op 10-11-1764 vertrekt hij uit Marseille naar Italië. (Gastel Marra). Op 27-3-1766 arriveert hij in Alicante en op 12-11-1767 passeert hij de Sont. Op 20-6-1771 komt hij in Kadiz. Hij staat op een lijst van schippers/ schepen die het lastgeld voor de vaart op de Middellandse Zee in Amsterdam betaald hebben. Het jaar is 1766, het schip is De Jonge Catharina en de schipper is Sijtje Jacobs Hemrica. Sijtje moet dus Sijtze zijn!

Volgens de quotisatiekohieren van 1749 was hij varensgezel, bestond zijn gezin uit 2 volwassenen en bedroeg de belastingaanslag 18 guldens en 1 stuiver. Hij woonde van 1748 tot 1749 op nr. 76 te Garijp, in 1754 op nr. 25 (hij was toen zeevarende) en in 1755 op nr. 67. In 1757 ging hij maar nr. 80, in 1759 naar nr. 67, in 1761 naar nr. 25, in 1762 extra provintiaal en in 1763 weer terug op nr 25.

In 1777 had hij 2 zoons op zee: Jacob en Jan. In 1796 is zijn bezit nog geen 600 gulden.

In 1787 was hij voor 1/8 erfgenaam van Christiaan Michiels te Bergum.

In de Amsterdamse Courant van 24-6-1773 staat dat door makelaar V. de vries het schip De Jonge Catharina te koop zal worden aangeboden in Amsterdam op maandag 28-6-1773. Plaats: 't Nieuwe Heeren Logement. In het jaar 1763 is het schip nieuw "uitgehaald". Het is welbezeild. De schipper is Sietze Jacobs Hemrica. Lengte: 103 voet en 1 quart. Wijt: 26 voet, 9 duim.
