Notes about Andreas ( Drees ) Pathuis-

Sinds lange tijd probeer ik via internet sporen te vinden van het schip de Nooitgedacht van mijn opa Andreas (Drees) Pathuis, dit schip, ws een bolschip, dat door mijn opa werd gebruikt als turfschip, kolen, en aardappels voer en mogelijk meer, vooral in de veenkoloniën in Drenthe en Zuid-Oost Groningen. De ligplaats was oorspronkelijk vanaf eind 30-er jaren de 2e Exloërmond, maar vanaf eind 50-er jaren de Marktkade in Musselkanaal.

Het schip is eind 60-er jaren verkocht en heeft nog een tijdje gelegen aan de Schoolkade in Musselkanaal. Daarna was het verhaal dat ie naar Groningen gesleept (?) zou zijn begin 70-er jaren, om er een woonboot van te maken. Er lag ws indertijd een Ford motor in, die opa er zelf met hulp in heeft gezet..Aanvankelijk voer hij met echte paardenkracht en later een opduwer. Helaas is er geen foto meer bekend, behalve dat ooit een asbak bestaan heeft met een foto eronder, deze is helaas te vaak afgewassen.

Ook vraag ik me af of er nog iets te vinden is over het schip van mijn overgrootvader, Willem Pathuis, uit Musselkanaal. Het enige wat nog bekend is dat de boot een voormalige zeilboot met opstaande kajuit en zwaarden was waar later een dieselmotor is ingezet. "De Zwerver" zwierf door Friesland, Noord Holland en voer ook op Amsterdam ws tot de 2e WO, daarna ontbreekt elk spoor.

Met name het schip van mijn opa Andreas is hetgeen ons het meest aan het hart ligt. Mijn vader mocht het indertijd overnemen toen opa eind jaren 60 overleed, maar mocht dat niet van mijn moeder, ze wilde geen schippersvrouw worden! met (nog steeds ) pijn in het hart heeft mijn vader toen het schip moeten laten gaan. Nog regelmatig praten we over het schip, waarop ik als kleine jongen met mijn opa Andreas in het roefje mocht, langs de gangboorden liep aan zijn hand en altijd hoopte dat we gingen varen, hetgeen niet meer

is gebeurd.
