Assistent (1959-1985): Vanaf september 1978 werkte hij in Libië, samen met collega's zoals W. van Rooij, H.M. Kraamer, P. van den Brink, J. Meyns, H.J. Reuyl, E. Geertsma en J. van der Graaf.

Willem Barendsz (1963-1981): Hij diende als matroos-runner op dit schip.

Daarnaast wordt in een verslag over de sleepboot Cycloop vermeld dat Willem Harting in 1985 betrokken was bij een operatie in Marsa El Brega, Libië. Hij reisde toen met collega's, waaronder kapitein Van de Meij, Freek Fijn en Jan de Zwart, per Lufthansa naar Tripoli.
