Doctor L.H.J. Mestrom studeerde eerst in Rolduc en haalde daar zijn eindexamen Gymnasium A & B. Vervolgens studeerde hij medicijnen in Amsterdam en werd daarna chirurg te Haarlem. Hierna was hij van 1915 tot 1918 als zenuwarts verbonden aan de Psychiatrische inrichting in Vught.
Woont van 24 mei 1902 tot 4 oktober 1909 in Amsterdam op de Kloveniersburgwal 52 als student-arts, later van 13 okt 1910 tot 15 augustus 1911 in de Marnixstraat en tot slot als arts van 5 november 1912 tot 11 juni 1913 op de Centuurbaan.
7-7-1911 Gepromoveerd aan de Universiteit voor Geneeskunde met proefschrift (13 stellingen): variaties der pyramidenkruising.
Hij was van 1918 tot 1927 afdelingsarts aan het Rijks Krankzinnigen Gesticht te Eindhoven.
In 1927 werd hij benoemd tot Geneesheer-Directeur aan de St Joseph Stichting te Apeldoorn tot hij In 1950 met pensioen ging.
Daarnaast was hij jaren lang actief bij het bureau voor beroepskeuz voor geestelijk gestranden en heeft daar veel goed werk gedaan.

Vertaling van de tekst op de briefkaart die de pastoor van Amsterdam schreef aan de pastoor van Maasbracht in verband met het huwelijk van LHJ Mestrom en CGM Galvazi:
"Wilt gij opschrijven in het doopboek van Doop, Huwelijk, Overlijden dat Lamberti H.J. Mestrom, gedopt in uw kerk op 20 nov. 1882 met Carolina Geertruida Maria wettige dochter van Ludovici Johannis Mauriti Galvazi (niet katholiek) en Maria Elisabeth van Beek, gedoopt in de kerk van St. Augustinus te Amsterdam op 6 januari 1886. Doopgetuigen zijn Eudard van Beek en Maria van Beek. Bevestigd volgens afspraak op de 12 oct. 1916. De Bevestiger L. Rouma parochie van Sti. Aug."

Vestigt zich op 30 oktober 1916 in Vught in wijk A24b, later B329a vanuit Voorburg. Vertrekt vanuit Vught naar Woensel op 29 april 2018.
