    Op 12 april 1583 trouwde zij met prins Willem IinAntwerpen. Dit was het enige jaar sinds 1572 dat zijnietin rouwkleding was gekleed. Het huwelijk van WillemenLouise was politiek beladen, haar Franse afkomstmaakteLouise niet erg populair in de Nederlanden. HunzoonFrederik Hendrik werd geboren op 29 januari 1584. Op10juli van dat zelfde jaar overleed Willem van Oranjealsgevolg van de aanslag van Balthasar Gerards en wasLouisevoor de tweede maal weduwe geworden. Zij speelde alsweduwevan Willem de Zwijger nog een zekere publieke rol;bij hetbeleg van Geertruidenberg (1593) ging zij, net alsandereelegante dames, een kijkje nemen.

    Nadat ze in 1619 tevergeefs bij haar stiefzoon PrinsMauritshad getracht de executie van Johan vanOldenbarnevelt tevoorkomen, vertrok ze echter naarFrankrijk, waar ze tothaar dood in 1620 verbleef bij deFranse Koningin-moederMaria de' Medici.
