    Kasteel Stapelen en de Sint Petruskerk zijn demeestopvallende monumenten in Boxtel. In Boxtel staattevens dedikste mammoetboom van Noord-Brabant. Eenanderebelangrijke bezienswaardigheid in Boxtel isnatuurgebied deKampina. Dat is een zeer uitgestrekt heide-en bosgebiedmet vele vennen. Het gebied is sinds 1929grotendeelseigendom van de Vereniging Natuurmonumenten enis ruim 1200hectare groot.

    Na de lagere school bezocht Jannie de huishoudschool, zoalsin die tijd nog heel normaal was voor jonge dames metvooruitzichten op een huwelijk. Zij volgde ook eenopleiding tot coupeuse. Een andere beroepsopleiding kwamniet ter sprake, want het stond allang vast dat zij zougaan werken in de schoenenwinkel van vader Jan.

    Vooral na haar huwelijk kwam het uitstekend van pas dat zijgoed overweg kon met naald en draad en denaaimachine,waardoor veel kleren voor het gezin door haargemaakt konden worden.

    Na haar huwelijk met Henk gingen zij wonen in een kleinewoning boven de schoenenwinkel van «b»van Haaren«/b» aan deGrootestraat in Ede. Kort na de oorlog heeft het jongegezin Meijer nog enige tijd ingewoond bij de ouders vanHenk aan de Telefoonweg 46 in Ede. Na het overlijden vantante Rika Laupman betrok het gezin van Jannie debovenwoning in het ouderlijk huis aan de Boschpoortstraat10/12 (na 1949: Grotestraat 90) in Ede.
    In 1953 kochten Jannie en Henk de woning aan deAmsterdamseweg 3 in Ede.
