    Johannes werd geboren in het ziekenhuis L460 in Utrecht.
    Op 6 november 1877 vertrekt hij samen met moeder Hendrikanaar Valburg, naar Asyl Steenbeek, de in 1848 geopendeeerste instelling voor vrouwenopvang in de verbouwdevoormalige bierbrouwerij Steenbeek te Zetten.

    Als hij bijna 2 jaar oud is, op 25 maart 1881, wordt hijnaar het Huis van Barmhartigheid in Den Haag gebracht. Daarblijft hij tot hij op 15 juni 1893 naar de NederlandschMettray in Gorssel vertrekt om te worden opgeleid totschoenmaker.

    Op 29 aug 1899 werd hij echter door Gedeputeerde Statenongeschikt verklaard voor den dienst uit hoofde vanlichaamsgebreken (no. 250 van het Reglement, vastgesteldbij Staatsblad no. 151 van 1803). Het zou daarbij gaan omontstekingen van de wervels en/of een wandelende nier.
