Riet blijft na het overlijden van haar man Theo tot 1999 in de van Brakelstraat wonen. Dan verhuist ze naar een aanleunwoning aan de Argusvlinder te Breda. In 2001 verhuist ze van daar naar het aangrenzende verzorgingshuis de Westerwiek waarze in 2005 overlijdt.
