Daar Willem hervormd is worden de oudste vier kinderen in die godsdienst opgevoed. De overige drie kinderen zijn, evenals de moeder
katholiek.

Bij de volkstelling van 1947 vinden we de ouders terug in Dieren, Wilhelminaweg 20.
Alle kinderen zijn het huis uit, maar er woont wel een zus van hem, Henderika Wilhelmina
Hakkert bij hen in huis.
