      Lammert Hagens was born on November 19, 1901, at Elburg, Gelderland, The Netherlands, and passed away at his home near Newkirk October 13, 1964, at the age of 62 years, 10 months and 25 days.

      In 1913 Mr. Hagens came to the United States with his parents. The family settled at Orange City. He moved to the farm near Newkirk in 1926 and remained on this farm until his death.

      February 1, 1939 at Sioux Center he was married to Hermina Meyer. To this union were born four children, Artam, Henrietta, Marion and Grace.

      He is survived by his wife and children, and one brother, Bert of the Netherlands; two sisters, Mrs. Neal De Koter and Mrs. William Zevenbergen, both of Orange City.

      Rev. John M. Smith conducted the funeral services Friday afternoon at the Newkirk church. A quartet , comprised of Reynold Van Gelder, Lloyd Grotenhuis, Stanley De Haan and Norlan Top sang two numbers, "Does Jesus Care?" and "No Tears in Heaven." P a l l bearers were nephews, Richard Lee Meyer, Gilbert Dean Meyer, Anthony Teunissen, Gerrit Teunissen, Marion Zevenbergen and Art Zevenbergen.

      The Van Etten funeral home was in charge of arrangements and interment was in the Orange City cemetery. Refreshments were served afterward at the Newkirk church.
