Rond Heule - Watermolen wordt Constant Witdouck op 25/05/1940 krijgsgevangen genomen. hij wordt naar Duitsland gebracht. Constant komt terug op 28 januari 1941.


Jozef bleef op de ouderlijke boerderij in Oekene tot in 1956. De boerderij was in pacht en werd toen verkocht. Jozef had als pachter de eerste keuze maar de prijzen vlogen toen de pan uit in Vlaanderen, de boeren boden tegen elkaar op wegens grondgebrek. Voor Jozef was de maat vol, hij zag er geen rentabiliteit meer in om in Vlaanderen op een klein areaal te boeren, hij nam in 1956 een boerderij in Kain over van een Waalse boer die op pensioen ging waar hij daar op zo'n twintig hectare een gemengd landbouwbedrijf uitbaatte. Het ouderlijk hof is nu omgebouwd en in feite geen echte boerderij meer.
