(Research):De Atjeh-oorlog (1873-1914) was een koloniale oorlog die het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden voerde met het aanvankelijk oogmerk om de zeevaart door Straat Malakka te beveiligen tegen zeerovers uit Atjeh. Later was het doel het Sultanaat Atjeh onder Nederlands koloniaal gezag te brengen en te houden. Onderstaand een lijst van tijdens die oorlog (zie onderstaand schema) gesneuvelde officieren (tussen 1873-1942). De meeste officieren die sneuvelden werden begraven te Peutjoet.
W.C. Tijl, eerste luitenant der cavalerie (3 maart 1874), overleden aan een op 15 februari verkregen wond; overleden op reis van Atjeh naar Padang tijdens de tweede expeditie naar Atjeh.
