Johannes woonde daarna met zijn vrouw Sjoukje in Rottevalle, maar wordt niet meer vermeld in het speciekohier.
Hij moet niet verward worden met de eveneens doopsgezinde Johannes Douwes uit Surhuisterveen, die eerst was getrouwd met Aukje Ottes en daarna met Janke Eylards.
ACH-127-268v d.d. 7-3-1760: Johannes Douwes, scheper, "thans woonagtigh in de Dragten", tekent op 7-3-1760 een schuldbekentenis van 360 goudguldens aan Dengeltje Gerrits, weduwe van Sjoerd Douwes te Noorder-Drachten. Dit in verband met de koop van een huis met wat grasland te Surhuisterveen. Borg is Sytse Tjerks, die op 12-11-1760 de eerste van 3 termijnen betaalt.
ACH-129-140: op de verschijndag 1-4-1772 koopt Johannes Douwes, scheper, uit een boelgoed een zwijn voor 14-0-0.
SMA-109-266 d.d. 15-2-1774: Johannes Douwes, scheper, en Sjoukje Jurjens, echtelieden op de Houtigehaage in de Rottevalle, verklaren op 15-2-1774 schuldig te zijn aan Roel Beernts, mr.timmerman, en Tjitske Nicolai, echtpaar te Oudega de somma van 436-10-12 wegens geleverd materiaal.
SMA-109-341 d.d. 28-12-1774: Johannes Douwes, wonende in de Rottevalle, tekende 15-8-1773 een schuldbekentenis aan Benedictus Jans, huisman op't Witveen onder Oostermeer voor de somma van 300 car.gld. ter zake koop van grond.
