Zelfs van welke moeder de kinderen zijn is onzeker, omdat volgens Simon Wierstra Jel Sytzes van Haringsma Thoe IJlst geboren zou zijn na 1542.

Juw was weduwnaar van Rixt Joostesdr van Ockinga, dochter van Joost van Ockinga en Luts Fransdr van Minnema.

Julius maior a Decuma wordt op 29-7-1561 ingeschreven als student te Keulen (gelijk met zijn neven Julius minor en Hector).
Raadsheer bij het Hof van Friesland 1569-1578. Hij was spaansgezind en vertrekt naar Deventer.
Op 9-10-1579 wordt zijn “seer schoon ende groot hof” onder Huizum door een Leeuwarder volksmenigte vernield (GJB 2011-234).
Hij is in Keulen in ballingschap overleden (zie Grafschriften III).
